Anti-Dalit and Anti-Tribal mindset

1. Atrocities against SCs have increased by 38% under BJP government from the year 2013 to 2015 (NCRB data). There is a systematic anti-dalit mindset reflected in the utterances, actions and policies of BJP government and its leaders. Latest is example is that of Karnataka BJP president, Mr. Yeddyurappa who refused to eat food in a dalit house and ordered precooked meal from a hotel. This form of untouchability and anti-dalit mindset is alien to 21st Century.

2. Landscape of India is riddled with anti-dalit actions of BJP government from Una in Gujarat, Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad Central University, Delta Meghwal in Bikaner, Rajasthan; Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle in IIT, Madras to the persecution of dalit students and officers in Madhya Pradesh.

3. BJP seeks to deny rights over ‘jal, jungle and jameen’ to India’s adivasis by diluting Forest Rights Act, 2006 as also by bringing amendments to Compensatory Afforestation Funds act and Mines and Minerals Act. So much so, Jharkhand BJP government has gone to the extent of amending ‘Chhota Nagpur & Santhal Pargana Tenancy Acts’ to eliminate rights of tribals.
